Rotary support for The Westway Centre

21 Apr 2020 | News | 0 comments

The Westway Centre (previously The Douglas Brunton Centre) in Chaldon Road Caterham is a community hub providing services for the residents of Tandridge and surrounding areas. The outbreak of Coronavirus [COVID-19] has had a major impact on their normal daily activities.

Although it is closed to visits, volunteers are operating at the Centre continuing to provide support to local residents including assisting with shopping, collecting and delivering medicines and driving people to doctors and hospitals for non-coronavirus cases.  See  website https://thewestway.org/

In order to provide a safe environment against COVID-19 to the volunteers who are key to providing the services, it has been essential to adopt a daily deep clean regime which has had an appreciable impact on running costs. Caterham Rotary are pleased to have made a donation in the last few days to help cover that increased cost for the next three months.

Rotary’s Mike O’Reilly said “The Westway volunteers are continuing to provide a much needed support service to the community in these difficult times and I am pleased that we have been able to help them in this situation.”
